This Happens To Your Body If You Eat Too Fast

In some cultures, eating together is celebrated and can take several hours. In our everyday life, the whole thing often looks different. Work, family and all other obligations mean that we take too little time to eat. The lunch break falls short and in the evening the dinner is plastered in no time. Very bad habits.

What fast food really does to you
Hiroshima University's Japanese researchers have followed more than 1,000 adults for over five years. These were divided into three categories: the fast, the normal and the slow eaters. At the beginning of the research, none of the participants showed any bad values, a deficiency or disease.

Eating fast makes you sick
After five years, the subjects were finally examined. The result: Fast Eaters were 89 percent more likely to have one of the four metabolic syndromes. They are also called the "deadly quartet" and include overweight, lipid metabolism disorders, high blood pressure and insulin resistance.

Fast eaters have weight problems more often
Apart from the health aspect, the fast eaters also had more pounds on their hips. "When people eat fast, they often do not feel full and tend to eat too much," explains the study director. Takayuki Yamaji. So who wants to pay attention to his health and his weight permanently, should not only pay close attention to what is on the table, but also how quickly eaten.
